Via Air Charter Flight VIM-502 , Airbus A320 registration LZ-MDR from Leipzig(Germany) to Varna(Bulgaria) with 172 passengers after landed on runway 09 with rain and gusty winds arround 20 knots overrun the runway for about 230 meters and came to a stop very near to airport's fence.Airplane evacuated via emergency chutes causing 2 people to lite injured
Unoffical report of pilot he said that while was going to land a very strong wind catch airplane and had to put down airplane in middle of runway which is only 2500 meters , it means airplane touch down at arround 1200 meters of runway
On 5 June 2013 the French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin the following about the incident
"Flight VIM502 EDDP-LBWN was approaching Varna in poor meteorological conditions. On board the aircraft there were 172 pax and 6 crew. The final approach was performed in rapidly deteriorating weather conditions in rain and variable wind with significant gusts. The landing was long and the touchdown took place at considerable distance from RWY09 threshold. The crew was unable to stop the aircraft on the runway and exited the RWY09. The aircraft collided with the perimeter fence of the airport, sustained serious damages and finally came to rest approximately 270 m from the RWY09 end and 30 meter north from the RWY09 extended centerline. During the evacuation 2 pax received serious injuries (broken legs) and were hospitalized. "
