Air France flight AF-12 , Boeing 777-200 registration F-GSPA from Paris to New York JFK with 280 passengers and 14 crew members it was en route over atlantic ocean and near Canada at FL360 when the crew reported burning smell inside airplane.The crew advised the Gander tower and requested without to declare an emergency to divert to St. John's.Airplane landed safely on runway 29
On 30 October 2013 the Canadina TSB reported that while in cruise, a burning smell was noted in the business class section of the cabin. AFR012 diverted to St. John's, NL, and landed without further incident. No emergency was declared and no assistance was required. The burning smell had dissipated prior to landing at St. John's. Maintenance determined that the smell had come from the recirculation fan. The fan was secured and the aircraft was returned to service.
