WestJet flight WS-463 , Boeing 737-600 from Calgary to Vancouver took off from Calgary and had just reach the cruising altitude FL400 when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.The crew declared an emergency and diverted back to Calgary for a safe landing on runway 35L
On 5 December 2013 the Canadian TSB reported that the WestJet Boeing 737-600 (C-GWSJ) was operating as flight WJA463 from Calgary, AB (CYYC) to Victoria, BC (CYYJ). En-route to CYYJ, the flight attendants reported a burning odour in the cabin. The flight crew completed required checklist items and with further consultation with the cabin crew elected to declare an emergency and divert back to point of departure. WJA463 landed at CYYC without incident on runway 35L with ARFF in attendance. The aircraft taxied to gate after being cleared by the Fire Captain. Maintenance has inspected the aircraft and was unable to duplicate the fault. The Live TV displays in row 2 were also reported out during the period of burning odour. Applicable LTV components were replaced as a precaution.
