Buffalo airways flight BFL-168 Douglas DC-3 registration C-GWIR , from Yellowknife to Hay River with 21 passengers and 3 crew members short after took off the right engine took fire.The crew declared an emergency diverted back to Yellowknife but it was too low with result to land with belly and inside a ditch some meters far from runway.Nobody injured
Passengers reported that the airplane clipped some trees while was going to land and passed very near from some power lines
On 21 August 2013 Canadian TSB reported that the C-GWIR departed runway 16 at Yelloknife on a VFR departure for an IFR flight plan.On departure tower controller observed torching and smoke from engine and trasmitted to C-GWIR without response.Tower gave priority for emergency landing on runway 10 with emergency services stand by.C-GWIR circled right for runway 10.On final tower advised C-GWIR that main landing gear it was not down.Airplane crash landed on the southwest infield , south of the threshold of runway 10
