China Airlines flight CI-52 , Airbus A330 registration B-18358 from Sydney to Taipei with 218 passengers it was en route at cruising altitude and near Cairns when the crew reported an engine problem.The crew declared an emergency and diverted to Cairns airport for a safe landing
On 15 October 2013 the French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that airplane it was at cruising altitude when the crew detected low oil quantity and low oil pressure in the number one engine and after that they shut down the engine number one and diverted to Cairns
