Jazz flight 8124 , de Havilland DHC-8-300 registration C-FTAK from Portland to Vancouver it was on final approach 15 miles from Vancouver when the crew reported a smoke alarm in rear cabin.The crew declared an emergency continued their approach and landed safely at Vancouver airport
On 19 November 2013 the Canadian TSB reported that C-FTAK, was on descent into Vancouver from Portland, Oregon, when the baggage compartment smoke warning cycled on and off three times. The crew declared an emergency. The flight attendant checked the baggage compartment and found no evidence of smoke. The aircraft landed safely five minutes later. Company maintenance was not able to duplicate the fault. They replaced both #1 and #2 baggage smoke detectors on spec. and ground tested the aircraft serviceable.
